Shirt numbers Ferran Torres could wear at Manchester City

Ferran Torres‘ signing for Manchester City from Valencia, which will be made official soon, puts an end to the rumours over the past few months linking him to just about every major club in all of the biggest leagues.

Pep guardiola had identified Torres, 20, as a replacement for Leroy Sane and have been tracking the Spain Under-20 international for some time and have taken advantage of his situation at Valencia to strike an agreement for the youngster.

Is Ferran Torres good enough for Man City?

The teenager has caught the eye with his one-on-one ability off either foot, quick decision-making, eye for a pass and burgeoning nose for goal. His ability to recognize an opening and take it is what separates him from the rest.

Torres is among La Liga’s trickiest wingers, averaging close to two successful dribbles per game. When he’s not getting chalk on his boots, the 20-year-old drifts dangerously between the lines and can operate as an attacking midfielder.

He became the second player born in 2000 to score a Liga goal (after Real Madrid prodigy Vinícius Júnior) When he found the net against Celta in January.

What Role Will He Have in City’s Squad?

It’s hard to envision Torres as an automatic starter from the very start of the 2020/21 season.

While Torres is not a like for like replacement for Sane, he does provide a lot of the same qualities that the German provided. Like Torres, Sane had also joined Manchester City as a 20-year-old and excelled on the left side of a front three. Torres, however, is more likely to play as a right-winger as he did for Valencia on the right-hand side of a 4-4-2 system.

Given Raheem Sterling’s excellent form throughout last season, he’ll have to contend for the right-wing role against the likes of Riyad Mahrez and Bernardo Silva, though the latter could find himself playing centrally more often next term.

Which shirt number should he wear?

Should Torres become City’s first major signing of the summer, he would have the pick of shirt numbers to choose from, although his current number 20 shirt is already taken by Bernardo Silva.

So which other shirt numbers will be available to the winger?

No.18, No.19, No,21 No.24, No.28, No,29 OR No,33
