Manchester City are ready to pay whatever it takes to sign Lionel Messi from Barcelona, claims the Mirror.
Two of the biggest Champions League’s quarter final losers might find comfort in each other, with Manchester City prepared to offer Lionel Messi a way out of Barcelona if he wants to exit Spain.
The 33-year-old may be ready to farewell Camp Nou after seeing his side crushed 8-2 by Bayern Munich on Friday night, with City adamant they are in pole position to land Messi should he decide to move on.
One obvious stumbling block will be the mammoth £635 million buyout clause that Barcelona have inserted into the 33-year-old’s contract, meaning that any move will likely need to be instigated by Messi himself, by way of a transfer request.
In reaction to the report shared on Twitter by Man City xtra and City Chief, Manchester City fans have expressed their thoughts and opinions.
Houssem Auour is better than messi. Sign him— raulmancunian (@raulmancunian) August 16, 2020
No. We need players that give 100% for 90 mins, Messi just stood and watched against Bayern and is doing that too often now.— Paul Martin (@PaulMartinPM) August 16, 2020
We don’t even need him we need fresh tactics, and good mentality to compete in bigger stage.— Fay (@fakhriyaan) August 16, 2020
I done listening to shit like this. Messi is getting older by the day. If this isn’t done by next summer window then I don’t see any need signing him anymore— Emma Chima (@Emilax97) August 16, 2020
Bringing Messi will not solve our problems. Pep need to go— Dela Dela (@nsangong) August 16, 2020
