Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays reports that the Citizens have been told to pay £109.1m for Atletico Madrid defender José Giménez.
City are well-known to be in desperate need of at least one centre-back to bolster the club’s options ahead of next season and are ready to raid the transfer market.
With the summer transfer window due to open in 9 days time, City have been heavily linked with a move for many defenders like Upamecano, Milan Skriniar, Diego Carlos and Kalidou Koulibaly in recent weeks.
According to Duncan Castles via TransferPodcast, City have ‘made contact’ with Atletico Madrid to enquire about a potential transfer fee for José Giménez (25) this summer but the La Liga club ‘did not respond well’.
As per the Sunday Times, the Citizens have been told they must pay €120 million (£109.1 million) to make the defender José Giménez part of an aggressive summer rebuild.
Gimenez, has started 19 matches for Atletico Madrid this season domestically, averaging an impressive 3.5 clearances per 90 according to Who Scored.
Giménez joined Atletico from Danubio in the summer of 2013 and has a contract until the summer of 2023.
