Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays reports that the club is interested in Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria.

With City having under-performed in the Premier League during the current campaign, Pep Guardiola is expected to make significant changes to his squad this summer.

City’s need for a centre-half is a priority but Pep Guardiola may want more quality options in the defensive midfield department with Fernandinho approaching the twilight of his career.

According to the German daily Rheinische Post via Inside futbol, Manchester City and Borussia Monchengladbach were in intensive talks with Denis Zakaria and his representatives over a transfer to the Etihad before they were slapped with a ban by UEFA.

According to the report, Liverpool and Real Madrid are also believed to be interested but Monchengladbach sporting director Max Eberl has insisted that Zakaria will stay at the club next season

In reaction to the report shared on Twitter by City Chief and Man City Xtra, City fans have expressed their thoughts and opinions

“If we bought him it would be to convert him to CB eventually I think and he would be incredible there, but he does have a lot of knee problems.”, claimed one fan”

while another asked, “Why not trigger the buy back for doughlas luiz?”

while another tweeted, “Rodri is class mate but Ferna will leave and we know city don’t want to stay with one player in each position. I’d have Zakaria 100℅ . He can play centre back as well in midfield. Even CM.”

Another tweet said:”He’s class but he’s not the leader-type piss-taking character like Dinho…but then…who is? Wish we could just clone Ferna 10 years younger”.
