Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays reports that the Citizens could lose their home advantage for Real Madrid Champions League clash
City are 2-1 up following the first leg of their last-16 tie at the Bernabeu and had hoped to welcome the Spanish giants to the Etihad at the start of August.
According to the Times, Manchester City will have to play Real Madrid in Portugal for the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie if they are unable to host the game at the Etihad, UEFA has confirmed.
As per this report, City and a host of other big clubs who remain in the competition are ‘lobbying hard’ for the right to play their return fixtures at home as opposed to in Portugal on neutral ground.
The Times claim that UEFA want the second legs played in Portugal to make it ‘easier to manage international coronavirus restrictions’. A decision on the venues must be made before July 10.
In reaction to the report shared on Twitter by Man City Xtra and City Chief, Many City supporters have flocked to expressed their thoughts and opinions on this latest update
Absolute joke if they go through with it— Ryan (@bernardooooV3) July 2, 2020

What an absolute joke, UEFA really don’t like City— ✊🏽 (@xestmcmxcvi) July 2, 2020
Why would they think we can’t host it at the Ethad. Thought Portugal wasn’t on uk travel destinations. Or have I missed an update?— eileen mayall (@aveagudun) July 2, 2020
UEFA just looking to stick the boot in again helped by Madrid saying they don’t want to come. UEFA should be telling Madrid if they don’t go your out it’s bobbins again from UEFA we better win the court case to really wind them up #CTID— marc bradley (@bradders2617) July 2, 2020
“So basically if Real win 3-2 they Qualify on away goals when we play both games away? Real finish the season a week before us and 20days before CL. Games are going through at the Etihad in the league so i seriously don’t see the problem here, claimed one fan.
while another asked, “Why would they think we can’t host it at the Ethad. Thought Portugal wasn’t on uk travel destinations. Or have I missed an update?”
Another tweet said:”No reason why we couldn’t hold game at Etihad is there? Players don’t have to go into quarantine as coming from Spain. Sounds like another bit of UEFA skulduggery to me”
If this happens at the very least to ensure fairness, as City have had away leg, Real Madrid should not be allowed any away goals advantage if its level and in their favor. Only right for City to win on away goal rule if needed here.
