Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays reports that the club want to keep Eric García ‘at all costs’ who is the subject of interest from Barcelona.
Barcelona are looking to former La Masia prodigy Eric García as a long-term replacement for Gerard Piqué having sold the youngster to Manchester City in 2017
According to the front page of Monday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo via Sport Witness, with Gerard Pique coming towards the end of his career, and Samuel Umtiti continuing to suffer repeat injury problems, Barcelona are ‘crazy’ about signing Eric García as the new man for the future.
According to the report, Barca’s plan is to work on getting a cheap deal, and if that isn’t possible, convincing Garcia not to renew, before then signing a pre-contract agreement in January.
It remains to be seen if that actually goes through. García is under contract at the Etihad until 2022 and City are working on a contract renewal for the 19-year-old La Masía graduate.
In reaction to the report shared on Twitter by City Chief and City Xtra, Manchester City fans have expressed their thoughts and opinions.
We need to keep him at all costs— *African Giant* (@EmodiAugustine) July 27, 2020
Should sell if he doesn’t sign.— Romil (@RomilGala) July 27, 2020

If he doesn’t sign a new contract soon then City need to be asking questions about his level of commitment and should be looking to move him on. Would be great if he renewed, but if not we can’t allow this to drag on surely? I’m not sure how much more we can convince him?— City ’til I Cry! (@tomritchiemcfc) July 27, 2020
Ofc he can join them but They wont use him and he will end up in the 21s squad but if he stays with city and just Wait for his time he can become the spanish kompany the choise is his— Even (@bluedude2099) July 27, 2020
Keep your dirty hands off Eric, Barça. He’s pure. He’s ours. He’s Mr. Manchester City Jr. Gonna have a trophy-laden career here at City. Barça are undergoing depletion and won’t attract anyone at the moment.— Vayam Lahoti (@VayamLahoti) July 27, 2020
