Manchester City fans have been left excited over claims and reports a deal could be confirmed by the end of the week for Valencia winger Ferran Torres described by a fan to be ‘Already better than Salah’ .
Ferran, whose current contract ends in June 2021 is apparently top of Pep Guardiola’s wish list in terms of potential reinforcements in wide attacking positions.
In recent weeks, the Citizen have made significant strides in their attempts to secure the signature of the 20-year-old Spanish winger, with several fees reportedly being discussed and some rejected.
Torres is believed to have turned down the chance of renewing his contract at Valencia and is keen on joining up with Guardiola at City, reports BBC Sport, in a deal that could cost £40m.
According to reports from The Times, Manchester City are closing in on signing the Valencia’s highly-rated youngster this summer transfer window, with Daily Mail claiming the La Liga outfit are holding out for a fee of £40m in spite of Torres’ contract expiring at the end of next season.
Torres is hopeful of a deal being reached, but Valencia are playing hardball and have also enquired about the possibility of City midfielder Yangel Herrera – who spent the 2019-20 campaign on loan at Granada – being included as part of a deal.
According to Goal report yesterday, the 20-year-old, who is in the final 12 months of his contract at Mestalla, has already agreed personal terms on a five-year deal at the Etihad Stadium.
As per GoalEspana, via City Xtra, the two clubs have agreed a fee for the 20-year-old in the region of €30-40million, though it’s not clear how much of the fee would be bonus based.
Torres could be City’s first signing of the summer as the Citizens according to various reports are believed to be leading the race for the 20-year-old’s signature.
Just a matter of day before a deal is concluded for the Valencia Winger as The Etihad outfit are desperate to conclude their transfer business as soon as possible in what has already been touted as a strange summer.
City director of football Txiki Begiristain has urged hasty deals as a result of the peculiar circumstances, that will see the Manchester club strapped for time.
In reaction to the report shared on Twitter by City Chief and Man City Xtra, City fans have expressed their thoughts and opinions with many excited and can’t wait for an official announcement for Etihad bound winger.
