Manchester City Fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays reports of Pep Guardiola’s interest in Atletico Madrid defender Jose Maria Gimenez.
Gimenez is one of the defender strongly linked with a move to the Etihad amongst Pau Torres, Upamecano, Milan Skriniar, Nathan Ake, Diego Carlos and Kalidou Koulibaly in recent weeks, as Pep Guardiola looks to sign a new centre-back at the end of the season.
City’s need for a centre-half is a priority this summer, after the problems encountered in the wake of Vincent Kompany’s retirement this summer.
The Citizens have recently had a bid accepted from Bournemouth for defender Nathan Ake but Guardiola isn’t done there.
According to ESPN, the Citizen are closely following the development of Jose Maria Gimenez, but face a tough battle to land the £110 million-rated centre-back.
Atletico Madrid are not interested in listening to any offers lower than the defender’s release fee, with Chelsea also showing an interest as Frank Lampard believes Gimenez would add strength and experience to his back line.
In reaction to the report shared on Twitter by City Chief and Man City Xtra, City fans have expressed their thoughts and opinions.
way too injury prone NO— Shawn (@shawnthesharkk) July 31, 2020
He is not top quality, Ake is even better than him, if we were to sign Ake, I’d want somebody world class like Koulibaly or Skriniar— Clive Diaz (@Clive_Diaz) July 31, 2020
Too much. Better go after Ruben Dias, he will be a bargain— lauriqueeee 🇷🇴👽 (@reussybvb) July 31, 2020
If Koulibaly is not happening, why isn’t Txiki going for Upamecano? We could get him for < 60 mil, he is young, strong and is right footed too. I have a feeling Garcia is going to sign for Barca so we need Upamecano imo. Torres, Ake and Upamecano is a dream transfer window.— Aswin Viswanathan (@CallMeAchu) July 31, 2020
