Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays reports that the Citizens have intensified their interest in Bournemouth centre-back Nathan Aké
Pep Guardiola may well be looking to improve as his defence that has been a problem this season compared to last season
With the future of both Nicolas Otamendi and John Stones in doubt and the failure to replace Vincent Kompany, the Citizens are therefore in need a dependable partner for Laporte.
According to the reliable David Ornstein of The Athletic, Manchester City have stepped up their efforts to sign Nathan Ake in the summer transfer window.
The Dutchman was watched by City before the winter transfer window, but no advances were made at the time.
Ake has become one of the best defenders in the Premier League since joining Bournemouth. He is versatile, solid in the air, and quick.
The 25-year-old Dutch defender, who is likely to leave Bournemouth at the end of the season, is the subject of interest from former club Chelsea as well
According to Daily Mail, Chelsea might have a buy back clause from when they sold him to The Cherries in the first place. But it’s not clear if the clause exists, but they do point out that Chelsea are also keen to bring him back to Stamford Bridge.
That presents two options – Chelsea could buy him back and use him themselves, or they can buy him back and sell him on to anyone who isn’t a direct competitor, and that could ruin this for Man City.
In reaction to the report shared on Twitter by Man City Xtra and City Chief, Manchester City fans have expressed their thoughts and opinions with many excited as they believe he will be the perfect backup for Laporte.
Here is what some had to say on Twitter
Ake and Koulibaly would be the perfect replacement for Stones and Ota. Please @ManCity 😍— TP (@TheSilvaFlair) June 29, 2020
Better than stones and otamendi— True city Fan ™ (@PatrickChitokwe) June 29, 2020
Massive upgrade to otamendi. Ake is good in a poor Bournemouth team. Otamendi is crap and dives in and sells himself in the second best team in the country— chris roberts (@chris_roberts96) June 29, 2020
Bournemouth will probably get relegate so he won’t cost that much. It would be great if we sign him along with Koulibaly, as he is also very good as LB— Beast 123 (@beast333444) June 29, 2020
“Young, left footed, home grown and can play CB, LB and CDM.. Would be handy as a backup for Laporte!”, claimed one fan.
while another asked, “So guys what about koulibaly? Every time we hear a rumor and mention that pep had phone call or that man city have reached a personal agreement with the target as koulibaly or Aouar and we (the fans) get excited then everything starts to cool down and mention new players?”
Another tweet said:”Ake I think is considered homegrown players as he played since he was kid for chelsea and bournmouth may get relegated so we can buy him cheaply but the 1st option is always koulibaly if we are getting both of them while selling otamendi & stones will be perfect 👌🏻”
I don’t doubt his quality. But his height (180) concerns me. We Will struggle with teams ’bigger’ than us. We already suffer in set-pieces and corners because of our lack of height. For that reason, this is a big no-go.— skyzenz (@skyzenz) June 29, 2020
