Manchester City will only accept a transfer fee of £50m to sell one of their star players this summer, as per reports. The club has seen big-name players like Riyad Mahrez and Raheem Sterling leave in previous transfer windows for significant fees. Now, City’s stance on another key player, Bernardo Silva, has been revealed – they will not accept less than £50m for him and will only let him leave if his release clause is met.
Silva, who has been with City for seven years, has expressed interest in taking on a new challenge. Despite signing a contract extension until 2026 last summer, the midfielder could be on the move this summer if a club triggers his £50m release clause. Silva has been a key player for City, making 351 appearances, scoring 66 goals, and providing 62 assists. His departure would be a significant blow for the club.
The midfielder’s importance to City is highlighted by his 45 appearances across all competitions this season. With a reported £300k-a-week wage, Silva’s departure would leave a void in City’s squad and he would be missed by the team. Despite his contract running until 2026, Silva’s desire for a new challenge could see him leaving the Etihad Stadium in the upcoming summer transfer window.
