Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is concerned about the future of goalkeeper Stefan Ortega as contract extension talks have stalled. Ortega, who joined the club in 2022, could leave at the end of the current season to avoid a free transfer next year. Manchester City have rejected offers from Bayern Munich for Ortega in the past, and he has been close to joining Brentford.

Ortega, who has made 31 appearances for Manchester City, including 17 this season, has been filling in for the injured Ederson in recent games. He is set to start in the upcoming Emirates FA Cup Final against Manchester United. Guardiola would like Ortega to stay, but understands the player’s desire for more playing time, especially at his age.

Manchester City may face additional departures this summer, including Bernardo Silva, Kevin De Bruyne, and Kyle Walker. If Ortega leaves, the club may need to find a new backup goalkeeper. Guardiola remains uncertain about Ortega’s future and is unsure if he will stay at the club.
