Premier League legend Alan Shearer has defended Erling Haaland after the striker showed frustration at being substituted by Pep Guardiola during Manchester City’s match against Wolves. Despite criticism from former Manchester United player Roy Keane, Shearer believes Haaland was justified in his reaction as he was on a high after scoring four goals in the game.
Shearer expressed his support for Haaland on ‘The Rest is Football’ podcast, stating that he would have been equally frustrated in that situation. He understood the striker’s feelings of being on form and back in the groove, which made the decision to be substituted even more frustrating for Haaland.
Despite facing fitness and injury issues throughout the season, Haaland has managed an impressive record of 36 goals and six assists in 41 appearances across all competitions under Pep Guardiola. With 30 goal contributions in just 28 Premier League outings, the Norwegian striker continues to showcase his talent in front of goal.
