Wayne Rooney has stated that it will take Manchester City’s Phil Foden another decade to reach the goal-scoring level of Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah. Foden has been in excellent form this season, with 14 goals and eight assists in 30 Premier League appearances. Rooney feels that Salah does not receive enough credit for his consistently high-level performances, with 35 goal contributions this season.
Rooney praised Salah for his incredible skills and consistency, noting that the Egyptian player does not always get the recognition he deserves. Despite Salah’s impressive numbers and impact on Liverpool’s success, Rooney believes that Foden, who is much younger, still has a long way to go to match Salah’s level of performance. He emphasized that Foden has the potential to achieve similar success in the future with more experience and development.
City manager Pep Guardiola has also lauded Foden’s abilities, describing him as a top-class player who has the potential to achieve great things in his career. Guardiola’s praise for Foden came after the young player’s hat-trick in a recent 4-1 victory over Aston Villa. With Foden showing immense potential and skill on the field, it will be interesting to see how his career unfolds in the coming years, as he aims to reach the level of players like Salah.
