Sergio Aguero, a Manchester City legend, will be coming out of retirement to play in a 7v7 tournament this summer. Aguero retired from professional football in 2021, only six months after joining FC Barcelona. During his time at Manchester City, he scored 260 goals in 390 appearances and won 14 trophies, becoming the club’s all-time leading goal-scorer.
The tournament, called ‘The Soccer Tournament’, will take place at WakeMed Soccer Park in North Carolina, with Aguero putting together his own team and debuting Manchester City’s home kit for the 2024/25 season. The event will feature separate men’s and women’s brackets, with the winners of each bracket taking home a $1 million prize. The format will include group play and single-elimination knockout rounds.
This news has sparked excitement among football fans, as they will have the chance to see Aguero in action once again after his retirement. The tournament will be a great opportunity for Manchester City supporters to witness their former star player on the pitch and relive some of his best moments in a competitive setting.
