Rodri Ready to Extend Contract and Join City’s Highest Earners

Rodri is eager to extend his contract and continue his time at Manchester City beyond his current deal, as he is enjoying his career in England. During his teenage years, Rodri split his time playing for two notable football clubs – Atlético Madrid and Villarreal. Making his senior debut as a professional footballer with Villarreal, he replaced Denis Suárez in a match against Rayo Vallecano on April 17th, 2016.

After making a name for himself at Villarreal, Atlético Madrid came calling in 2018, where he spent a year under Diego Simeone before ultimately making his way to Manchester City, where he has solidified his status as one of the best defensive midfielders in the world.

His impact has been crucial to the recent success of the reigning Premier League champions, with the team performing at their best when he is on the pitch. This week, he extended his unbeaten streak to 67 games following the club’s 1-1 draw against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.

According to a report by Cityxtra, Rodri is ready to negotiate a contract extension with Manchester City after the upcoming European Championships in Germany.

The midfielder is set to sign a five-year extension that will see him become one of the highest-paid players at Manchester City, matching the salaries of Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne, who are currently the top earners at the club and in the Premier League.

Pep Guardiola and the rest of the Manchester City squad recognize Rodri’s importance in the midfield and have consistently praised his contributions to the team.
