Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has addressed questions about Joao Cancelo’s future with the club. Cancelo has not played for Manchester City since January 2023, having left for Bayern Munich and Barcelona due to a rumored training ground dispute with Guardiola. Although Cancelo is under contract at City until 2027, he spent the second half of the 2022/23 season at Bayern Munich and is currently on a season-long loan at Barcelona.

Cancelo made 154 appearances for Manchester City between 2019 and 2023. While at Barcelona this season, he has faced criticism for his performance and there are talks of extending his loan. Guardiola is looking to strengthen the squad and may consider cashing in on Cancelo, who reportedly has interest from Arsenal and clubs in Saudi Arabia. Guardiola has stated that Cancelo’s future will be decided at the end of the season.

Manchester City is competing for the Premier League title and has six matches remaining. Guardiola’s team will need to win all their remaining games to secure a fourth consecutive Premier League title. The Cityzens face Brighton next in their title bid, while Guardiola’s focus remains on the end of the season discussions regarding Cancelo’s future with the club.
