Manchester City is reportedly still interested in signing West Ham and Brazil midfielder Lucas Paqueta, a pursuit that began in the last summer transfer window due to the absence of Kevin De Bruyne. Although negotiations were complicated by an ongoing FA investigation into Paqueta, City eventually signed Matheus Nunes from Wolves to fill the midfield position temporarily.

Despite signing Nunes, Manchester City is said to still be keen on acquiring Paqueta as a potential long-term replacement for De Bruyne. However, Paqueta has remained unaware of the FA investigation that prevented his move to City in 2023, with Guardiola seeing him as a more attacking option in the midfield. Paqueta is reported to have an £85 million release clause that will be valid starting this summer.

Meanwhile, Manchester City fans are uncertain about the future of Bernardo Silva at the club, as the Portuguese midfielder has expressed a desire to leave due to dissatisfaction with the English culture. Silva has reportedly included a £50 million release clause in his contract, which could potentially lead to his departure from the Etihad Stadium this summer.
