The City Football Group has acquired Italian side Palermo, ending their 120-year wait for a training facility. Palermo now joins other CFG clubs such as Melbourne City, Mumbai City, and New York City as a sister club. The new ‘City Football Academy Palermo’ in Torretta, Sicily marks a significant milestone for both Palermo FC and the City Group.
The inauguration of the training facility symbolizes a commitment to developing Palermo on and off the pitch. The facility includes two natural grass pitches, a smaller pitch for goalkeeper training, and a main building for players and staff. City Group’s Managing Director of Global Football, Brian Marwood, expressed pride in the new facility and its potential to elevate Palermo to new heights.
