Manchester City scout, Audrio Magalhaes, traveled to watch Sport Recife right-back Pedro Lima play in the final of the Campeonato Pernambucano. The 17-year-old has recently broken into Sport Recife’s first team and has caught the attention of City’s recruitment team after his performances at the Under 17 World Cup where he started all five of Brazil’s matches.
Lima has played just 13 senior games for Sport Recife, including appearances in the Copa do Brasil and the Copa do Nordeste. While City is interested in signing him, they face competition from Chelsea and Liverpool. Sport Recife is currently not open to offers from European clubs, as their focus is on integrating Lima into the first-team setup.
City’s scout is expected to continue monitoring Lima’s progress as the Serie B season progresses. A bid for the player’s signature this summer seems unlikely, but it could be a possibility in the future, possibly in January. City will have to compete with other English teams for Lima’s signature, but for now, Sport Recife’s priority is developing the young defender.
