Manchester City will face Chelsea in the Emirate FA Cup semi-final at Wembley Stadium on Saturday. This will be the third time the two clubs would meet this season and Kyle Walker disclosed Man City’s plan for Chelsea, as they aspire to rebound from a recent defeat against Real Madrid.

The Manchester City skipper stated that the Cityzens are strategizing to achieve something remarkable at Wembley in order to rebound from their recent setback. He claimed that their exit from the UEFA Champions League ought to serve as a driving force for him and his teammates this Saturday.

Pep Guardiola’s team remain in contention for two trophies this season despite their recent disappointment. They currently hold a two-point lead at the top of the Premier League and are eager to secure a place in the FA Cup final this upcoming weekend.

Speaking ahead of the match, Kyle Walker admitted that their defeat against Real Madrid was painful but could give them “the motivation to go on and do something special at Wembley [against Chelsea].

The England international said it would be disastrous for the reigning Premier League champions to throw everything away at this crucial time of the season. Therefore, they need to put things right in a massive game against Chelsea.

‘We’ve worked too hard to throw it away now. The best thing in football is you have a game to put it right and Saturday is a massive game. It’s a great opportunity to take this hurt and fire from our belly.”

Manchester City Recent Records Against Chelsea

Pep Guardiola’s side are once again the favorites to progress to the Emirate FA Cup final on Saturday. They have not suffered a defeat against the Blues since the heartbreaking 1-0 loss in the UEFA Champions League final in May 2021.

Since then, Manchester City has emerged victorious in every match against Chelsea, with the exception of the last two encounters which resulted in draws. The first match at Stamford Bridge this season ended in a 4-4 draw, while the return leg at the Etihad Stadium ended in a 1-1 draw.

Meanwhile, Saturday’s upcoming match promises to be a fierce battle. While Mauricio Pochettino’s youthful squad is determined to secure their first title by making the final, Pep Guardiola’s team is motivated to defend the trophy they won in a showdown against Manchester United last season.

Regarding the match, the Manchester City manager claimed that his players will be fully prepared to compete once more despite their insufficient recovery time following a difficult 120-minute midweek game. He said: “It is the semi-final of the FA Cup so we will compete as best as possible.”
