Manchester City captain Kyle Walker recently acknowledged being the toughest critic of the club’s attacking midfielder Phil Foden, as revealed during a podcast appearance.
The 23-year-old is enjoying another successful season with the Premier League champions, adapting to an attacking midfield role under Pep Guardiola for much of the ongoing season.
Kevin De Bruyne’s injury in the first half of the season led Guardiola to reconsider his midfield options, with Julian Alvarez also playing a central role in several matches.
Despite Phil Foden’s continuous improvement in tactical awareness and footballing ability, one member of the Manchester City squad remains critical of the player’s performance.
During his recent appearance on Rio Ferdinand’s FIVE podcast, captain Kyle Walker confessed that while Phil Foden is undoubtedly the best young player he has seen, he remains Foden’s biggest critic.
“I’m Phil Foden’s biggest critic. I will praise him because I’ve said it before, he’s the best young player I’ve ever seen, EVER,” said Kyle Walker, comparing Foden to other talented players he has encountered in his career.
Reflecting on his time at Tottenham Hotspur, the future remains uncertain for Kyle Walker at Manchester City, with speculation linking the veteran England international to various clubs.
Sheffield United remains a long-term goal for the 33-year-old, who started his career with the Blades in his hometown. There are also reports of Saudi Arabia emerging as a potential destination for the right-back.
The ambitious football project in the Middle East continues to invest in Europe’s top talents, with Manchester City reportedly considering a £40 million offer from Saudi Arabia for Kyle Walker.
