Kevin De Bruyne was unable to play in Manchester City’s match against Real Madrid due to sickness and vomiting. De Bruyne believes that he became ill after eating something in the team hotel in Manchester just hours before the game. Despite his absence, City managed to secure a 3-3 draw in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-final.
There were concerns that other members of the squad might also fall ill, but luckily the issue was isolated to De Bruyne. He has since returned to training and could be back in contention for the second leg against Real Madrid. However, it is uncertain if he will be utilized in Manchester City’s upcoming Premier League match against Luton Town, as well as the FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea at Wembley Stadium.
Manchester City still have fitness concerns with players like Kyle Walker, Nathan Ake, and Phil Foden ahead of the next matches. De Bruyne’s return to full fitness will be crucial for City as they look to progress further in both the Champions League and the FA Cup.
