Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola provided updates on the fitness of Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne ahead of the Emirates FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea. Both players were withdrawn during extra-time against Real Madrid due to fitness concerns and were unavailable for the penalty shoot-out that led to City exiting the European competition.
De Bruyne scored to level the tie against Real Madrid, but City were forced to replace him, Haaland, and centre-back Manuel Akanji due to fitness issues. Haaland had missed significant time earlier in the season with a foot injury, while De Bruyne had been sidelined for five months due to hamstring surgery in August.
Guardiola revealed that Haaland may miss the semi-final due to a muscular problem, but De Bruyne could be available. City are aiming to reach the FA Cup Final for the second consecutive season and potentially face Manchester United or Coventry City in a Manchester derby Final, following last year’s 2-1 victory over United.
