Manchester City are interested in signing West Ham United midfielder Lucas Paqueta at the end of the season.
According to a report from Football Insider, they are planning to make an offer for the Brazilian midfielder in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Manchester City had attempted to sign Paqueta at the beginning of the season and had reached an agreement for a deal worth approximately £80 million. However, the deal fell through due to an FA investigation into the player’s betting activities.
The club will revisit their interest in Paqueta during the summer transfer window, with the 26-year-old being a key player for West Ham and proving himself as a dependable performer in the Premier League. His quality makes him a suitable option for Manchester City in midfield.
Paqueta’s Potential for Manchester City
Paqueta’s addition would bring work rate, creativity, goals, and technical ability to Manchester City’s midfield, providing depth to the squad. The player would also be enticed by the chance to join a club with a successful track record in winning major trophies.
At his peak, Paqueta believes it’s the right time to progress his career by moving to a bigger club. Although West Ham will demand a premium fee for his services, Manchester City may seek to negotiate the previously agreed £80 million fee to secure his transfer in the summer.
Despite the high price, Paqueta’s familiarity with English football could lead to an immediate impact at his new club.
