Manchester City reveal Emirates FA Cup semi-final opponents after draw is complete

Pep Guardiola and his Manchester City players have now learned their fate in the semi-finals of this season’s Emirates FA Cup after Sunday’s draw.

Manchester City made history on Saturday evening by becoming the first team to reach the FA Cup semi-finals for six consecutive seasons. They defeated Newcastle United 2-0 at the Etihad Stadium, booking their spot at Wembley Stadium once again.

Bernardo Silva’s two deflected first-half goals secured a comfortable lead for Pep Guardiola’s side, as they triumphed over Newcastle for the third time this season and continued their quest to defend last season’s treble.

Manchester City, the reigning FA Cup champions after defeating Manchester United in the final last season, will face the semi-finals at Wembley Stadium next month. Guardiola’s team aims to secure their third FA Cup trophy under his management.

In addition to their quarter-final victory over Newcastle, Manchester City also emerged victorious against Huddersfield Town, Tottenham, and Luton Town in this season’s FA Cup campaign.

The clash between City and Tottenham in the Premier League has been postponed as a result of City’s advancement to the semi-finals of the FA Cup. The fixture with Brighton will also need to be rescheduled.

Last season, Manchester City defeated Sheffield United thanks to a Riyad Mahrez hat-trick in the semi-finals. The draw for this year’s semi-final took place on Sunday, revealing City’s opponents.

Manchester City will face Chelsea at Wembley Stadium in the Emirates FA Cup semi-final next month. The match is scheduled for either Saturday 20th or Sunday 21st April in north London.

If Guardiola’s side emerges victorious against Chelsea, they will face either Coventry City or Manchester United in the FA Cup final on Saturday 25th May, 2024.
