Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola had a humorous response to journalists during post-match questions at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

Manchester City missed the chance to overtake Premier League title rivals Arsenal in the table on Sunday as Liverpool moved closer to reclaiming the Premier League crown from the Blues.

The draw at the Etihad Stadium allowed Liverpool to go three points ahead of Manchester City and two points ahead of Arsenal in the title race. This was Manchester City’s 10th draw of the season.

Despite having 73% possession, Manchester City only managed one shot on target against Arsenal, falling behind in the race to win four consecutive Premier League titles.

Back-to-back draws against Liverpool and Arsenal have dented Manchester City’s title hopes. They have not won at home against Liverpool, Tottenham, Chelsea, or Arsenal this season.

While unbeaten since early December, star striker Erling Haaland has only scored five Premier League goals since returning from injury in late January. Nathan Ake was the latest injury concern on Sunday, joining Kyle Walker and John Stones on the injury list.

Manchester City struggled to break down Arsenal’s defense, and when asked about how to handle teams with low blocks, Guardiola jokingly responded: “Kill someone? Play with nine.”

“They defend really well but we tried. I recognise the intention we had. We take the point and in nine games we will see what happens. We will refresh mind and legs and go into Aston Villa.

“[We] prefer to win but take the point. Hard game. Team make me so proud. We wanted to try and they allow us to go left side. They make incredible pressing. The chances they have in first half, they press really well. Arsenal score many and concede few.”

City will face Aston Villa next and aim to level on points with Liverpool before Liverpool’s game against Sheffield United on Thursday. The Blues will then travel to Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace before the first-leg match against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.
