Video footage on social media has surfaced showing on-loan Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips involved in an X-rated incident with West Ham supporters after a match.
The 28-year-old left Manchester City for West Ham United during the January transfer window for the remainder of the 2023/24 season, having only made six starts since joining City in July 2022.
Phillips made the move to West Ham amidst concerns about his place in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the upcoming European Championship in Germany.
Despite winning multiple titles with Manchester City, including the Premier League and Champions League, Phillips had limited playing time under Pep Guardiola, making only 31 appearances in 18 months.
He opted to join West Ham in January, with manager David Moyes securing his signature despite interest from other Premier League clubs like Newcastle United and Fulham.
Phillips has featured in seven Premier League games for West Ham, including a substitute appearance in the recent 4-3 loss to Newcastle United where the Hammers squandered a 3-1 lead.
He was involved in a penalty incident during that game and had previously been red-carded while on loan at West Ham in February.
Footage on social media from after the Newcastle game captured Phillips expressing anger towards fans as he boarded the team bus, with one supporter provoking him by calling him “useless.”
