Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola provided an injury update on Jack Grealish ahead of the team’s upcoming Premier League match against Manchester United. Grealish, who recently recovered from an injury sustained in the Champions League, made a return to action in the FA Cup match against Luton Town but was unfortunately forced off the field once again due to a new injury.
Guardiola confirmed that Grealish will not be available for the match against United and expressed uncertainty about his return timeline. He emphasized the importance of Grealish recovering well to avoid further setbacks and highlighted the player’s determination to regain full fitness. The manager also hinted that Grealish may not be fit for England’s upcoming games.
He said: “He will not be fit for this weekend. When he will come back I don’t know. No. I need to speak with Gareth [Southgate], I think he will not be fit. He has to recover well. He has had a setback, he has to recover well so we can use him as much as possible. Yes, he doesn’t have an alternative. Setbacks in life are always there, it’s how you overcome them.”
With Grealish facing another spell on the sidelines, it is crucial for the medical and coaching staff to ensure his return only when he is completely fit and not at risk of aggravating his injury. Guardiola’s comments suggest that if Grealish’s current injury is related to his previous one, it may not have been properly addressed by the club’s medical team.
As City prepares for the Manchester Derby without Grealish’s contribution, the focus will be on supporting the player’s recovery and ensuring his long-term fitness. Guardiola’s update sheds light on the challenges Grealish faces in overcoming setbacks and returning to the pitch at full strength. Hopefully, with careful management and rehabilitation, Grealish will be back in action soon, ready to make an impact for both club and country.
