Simon Jordan has raised the possibility that Pep Guardiola may depart from Manchester City sooner rather than later.
With Jurgen Klopp announcing his departure from Liverpool at the end of the current season, the upcoming clash between City and Liverpool could mark the final showdown between Guardiola and Klopp.
In anticipation of this crucial match, a pundit and former Premier League club owner has speculated on Guardiola’s future at City. Jordan suggested during a talkSPORT interview that Guardiola may not linger much longer at the Manchester club, following Klopp’s exit.
He said: “These characters, these very large characters, and specifically Klopp, really resonate with people and that’s why I think it’s such a sad thing to lose him.
“I don’t think he’ll hang around that much longer. I think if he does another Treble this year, which he’s perfectly capable [of], he’s the sort of manager that goes out when people want more not less. Not that I can ever imagine there’s going to be a period of time where they want less from Guardiola.”
Since taking over as City’s manager in 2016, Guardiola has reached his eighth season in charge, surpassing his tenures at Bayern Munich and Barcelona. Overseeing a total of 456 games, he has secured numerous victories and titles, including five Premier League trophies, two FA Cups, four League Cups, and one Champions League.
While Guardiola’s contract is set to expire in 2025, there have been hints of a possible extension. It is crucial for City to prioritize securing a new deal with Guardiola to ensure his continued presence at the club for as long as possible.
As the football world awaits Guardiola’s decision, his potential departure from City could mark the end of an era for the Premier League. With his impressive track record and commitment to the team, fans hope to see Guardiola extend his tenure and lead City to further success in the upcoming seasons.
