Manchester City could potentially be facing another setback as they prepare to take on Arsenal at Etihad Stadium next weekend. Reports have surfaced that midfielder Matheus Nunes was forced to miss training with the Portugal national team due to a foot injury. This injury could potentially rule him out of the upcoming match against Arsenal.
Nunes, who joined Manchester City last summer, has been a key contributor to Pep Guardiola’s side throughout the season. The Cityzens are currently in contention for three major trophies: the Premier League title, the FA Cup, and the UEFA Champions League. Nunes played a significant role in City’s historic Club World Cup victory last year as well.
Despite his contributions, Nunes may join a growing list of City players who will be unavailable for selection against Arsenal. The midfielder was part of the Portuguese team that recently defeated Sweden in a friendly match but was unable to train ahead of their next game against Slovenia due to his foot injury.
Reports from local outlet B24 suggest that Nunes, who has made 23 appearances for Manchester City this season, is receiving treatment for the knock in his foot. This injury could potentially sideline him for the upcoming match, adding to City’s injury woes.
In addition to Nunes, City may also be without the services of Kyle Walker, who recently picked up a hamstring injury during an international friendly between England and Brazil. Walker’s injury forced him to be substituted off after just 20 minutes, casting doubt on his availability for the match against Arsenal.
Manchester City captain Walker took to social media to express his frustration at the injury and provide an update on his condition. Meanwhile, other key players such as Jack Grealish are also expected to miss the crucial Premier League clash, with Kevin De Bruyne remaining a doubt due to injury concerns.
With several key players potentially unavailable for the match against Arsenal, Pep Guardiola will need to carefully manage his squad and find suitable replacements to maintain City’s title challenge in the Premier League. The absence of key players like Nunes and Walker could present a challenge, but City will be looking to overcome these setbacks and secure a positive result against Arsenal at Etihad Stadium.
