Pep Guardiola has expressed his desire to see his Manchester City team score more goals as they aim to reclaim the Premier League title and potentially make history by winning it for a fourth consecutive season.
Despite being in contention for the league title alongside Liverpool and Arsenal, Guardiola emphasized the need for his team to improve their goal-scoring capabilities.
In a recent press conference ahead of a match against Bournemouth, Guardiola stated, “I would like to score more. We have the creativity to shoot. We should score more. [It is also] important to say how many chances we concede.”
He highlighted the importance of creating more opportunities while conceding fewer to increase their chances of winning games.
With City having scored 58 goals in 25 Premier League games this season, they trail behind Liverpool by five goals. Guardiola believes that his team can be more clinical in front of goal despite leading the league in goal-creating actions.
While the drop in their goal-scoring tally compared to the previous season may not be significant, Guardiola sees room for improvement in this aspect.
The City manager’s focus on increasing their goal-scoring prowess reflects his belief that scoring more goals will lead to more victories. By analyzing data and statistics, Guardiola aims to ensure that his team maintains a balance between offensive and defensive play to enhance their game.
As City continues their pursuit of the Premier League title, Guardiola’s emphasis on goal-scoring serves as a motivating factor for his players to perform at their best.
