Former football player and now pundit, Chris Sutton, has expressed his admiration for Manchester City winger Jeremy Doku and his playing style, claiming that Doku is a nightmare to play against.
During City’s Champions League win over Copenhagen, Doku replaced the injured Jack Grealish and featured prominently in the match.
Doku’s performance has caught the attention of pundits and fans alike as they anticipate City’s upcoming match against Chelsea in the Premier League. Sutton, in particular, has highlighted Doku as a player who could cause trouble for Chelsea’s defense.
In his column for BBC Sport, Sutton lauded City’s depth and quality of players, noting Jeremy Doku as a notable example.
He said: “City are just too good. They have got so many good players, and more to come off the bench. Jack Grealish’s injury against FC Copenhagen was a blow but they had Jeremy Doku to come on, who is a nightmare to play against.”
Doku is a young talent who has proven himself since his £55m transfer from Rennes to Manchester City.
To date, he has made 24 appearances for the team across various competitions, with four goals and six assists. He has been especially impressive in the Premier League, leading in both progressive carries and successful take-ons.
These stats reveal why Sutton believes Doku could potentially trouble Chelsea’s defense if given the chance in their upcoming game.
Furthermore, with Jack Grealish reportedly facing a spell on the sidelines due to his injury, it is likely that Jeremy Doku will get the opportunity to showcase his attacking prowess against Chelsea.
His ability to trouble opponents with his skill on the ball and creativity makes him a valuable asset for Manchester City.
Sutton’s praise for Doku reflects the growing recognition of the young player’s talent and potential to make a significant impact for City.
As he continues to develop and contribute to the team’s success, Doku’s role in City’s upcoming fixtures, particularly against Chelsea, will be one to watch.
