Pep Guardiola’s decision to once again bench Jack Grealish for Manchester City’s trip to Brentford on Monday night sparked a strong reaction from the player.

The team is aiming to continue their winning streak in the Premier League and close the gap with Liverpool to just two points following their recent FIFA Club World Cup success.

Despite Brentford’s previous victories over Manchester City, the Sky Blues have the opportunity to extend their current unbeaten streak to 12 matches.

The attacking pair of Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland started for the first time since August, with De Bruyne making only his third Premier League start of the campaign and Haaland getting his first start since early December.

Guardiola also made several other changes to the starting lineup, including Bernardo Silva, Phil Foden, and Julian Alvarez to the side that beat Burnley 3-1 on Wednesday night.

However, Grealish, who has not started for the team since early January, was named on the bench for the fourth consecutive fixture and reportedly expressed his frustration by leaving the club’s training session early.

According to the information of MCFCTone on X, Jack Grealish was left ‘not happy’ at being left on the substitutes bench for the trip to West London to face Brentford on Monday night, and subsequently left the club’s training session early.

The 28-year-old has made 18 starts for Manchester City this season but has been an unused substitute on five occasions.

His lack of playing time has led to some dissatisfaction within the first-team squad, as he was left unhappy about being named on the bench for the Brentford match.

Despite featuring as a substitute in their previous match against Burnley, Grealish’s discontent is evident as he seeks more regular playing time.

Manchester City’s strong form and pursuit of the Premier League title may require Guardiola to carefully manage the squad to keep all players motivated and content with their roles.

As they aim for victories in upcoming matches against Brentford and Everton, the team will need to address any issues surrounding player selection and maintain a cohesive and determined squad.
