Real Madrid is reportedly eyeing a move for 23-year-old Norwegian striker Erling Haaland from Manchester City in 2025, according to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes. The Spanish giants are keen on signing Haaland in the summer transfer window, but Manchester City is expected to try and secure him to a new contract before Real Madrid can make a move.
Haaland has been a standout performer for several years, rising to prominence during his time at Red Bull Salzburg before ultimately signing with Borussia Dortmund in January 2020. After a successful 30-month stint with Dortmund, Haaland made the switch to Manchester City in July 2022 for a fee of €60 million and has been a key player for them, helping secure a treble in his first season at the club.
Although his performance hasn’t been as prolific as his first season, Haaland has still managed to score 22 goals and provide six assists in 28 appearances this term. This impressive form has caught the eye of several top clubs, including Real Madrid.
Real Madrid has a long-standing interest in Haaland and is reportedly in regular contact with him. The club is hoping to form an “unbeatable” attacking trio consisting of Vinicius Junior, Kylian Mbappe, and Haaland for the coming decade. It is believed that Real Madrid will attempt to trigger Haaland’s release clause in the 2025 summer transfer window, but Manchester City is eager to fend off interest by offering him a new contract.
Despite the interest from Real Madrid, Haaland seems content at Manchester City. This, coupled with the club’s efforts to secure him to a new deal, may strengthen their position against any potential move. However, it will be intriguing to see if Real Madrid can sway Haaland in the upcoming transfer window.
