Merseyside Police have requested that the Premier League clash between Manchester City and Liverpool be rescheduled, a recent report has revealed. Manchester City closed the gap on Liverpool to just two points with a 3-1 victory over Brentford, following Liverpool’s 3-1 defeat to Arsenal. Phil Foden’s hat-trick put Manchester City in a strong position in the title race.
There are a number of crucial fixtures upcoming for teams in the title race, none more so than Manchester City’s trip to face Liverpool in early March. However, it has been disclosed that the scheduling of the match was changed at the request of Merseyside Police due to safety concerns and potential trouble between supporters.
The kick-off time for the clash between Liverpool and Manchester City in March has been moved forward following a request from Merseyside Police, as per a report from The Athletic’s James Pearce. The final battle between Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola’s teams in the Premier League will now take place on Sunday, March 10 at 3:45pm GMT at Anfield, broadcast live on Sky Sports in the UK.
Merseyside Police wanted an earlier kick-off due to issues between the two clubs in recent seasons. Manchester City’s match against Liverpool’s local rivals Everton is scheduled for this weekend, followed by a trip to Denmark to take on FC Copenhagen in the UEFA Champions League last-16. This is in addition to matches in the Premier League and FA Cup fifth round, which could have significant implications for Manchester City’s silverware hopes this season.
