Pep Guardiola is convinced that Phil Foden is having his best season yet at Manchester City. The team made significant progress in the Premier League title race by defeating Brentford 3-1 on Monday, bringing them within two points of league leaders Liverpool.

Brentford took an early lead through Neal Maupay in the first half, and goalkeeper Mark Flekken kept City’s shots at bay until Foden capitalized on a loose ball and scored seconds before halftime.

Foden continued to lead City to victory by scoring two more goals to complete his second career hat trick. Impressed with Foden’s performance, Guardiola commended him after the game.

The Manchester City manager handed Foden his debut at the age of 17 in 2017 and has since nurtured his talent, helping him become one of the top players in the country.

Guardiola stated, “He has played a lot of games, he is a guy that plays different positions and has the ability in spaces and the centre of goal because he likes to arrive in the box.”

“They [Brentford] are so deep, spaces are difficult so to have a player moving in these spaces is so important. He loves moving in the 18-yard box and he is playing his best season since we are together.”

Foden, now in his seventh season as a professional at City and 23 years old, has already achieved 20 goal contributions this season, including 11 goals and nine assists. This is a notable improvement from his previous season and suggests that he might surpass his personal best this season. Foden only missed two Premier League starts this season and is repaying the trust placed in him by Guardiola.

According to Guardiola, Foden’s impressive form this season is remarkable, considering that he won the treble last season. Guardiola also pointed out that Foden is now playing more than ever and is delivering excellent performances despite his young age.

In brief, Foden is currently in the prime of his career and is showcasing his exceptional ability as a key player for Manchester City. His performance in the 3-1 win over Brentford was one of the standout moments of the season for both the young talent and the team as a whole.
