Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has disclosed the reason behind the uncertainty surrounding Jack Grealish’s injury.

The 28-year-old will be out for several matches due to a groin injury sustained against FC Copenhagen. Grealish was forced off the pitch in the first leg of the last-16 clash, marking his return to the starting lineup after an absence since early January.

According to Mike McGrath, Grealish is expected to be sidelined for two to three weeks, potentially missing six matches in three different competitions for Manchester City.

This includes the upcoming derby clash against Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium. Grealish will miss games against Chelsea, Brentford, Bournemouth, Luton Town, and FC Copenhagen as well.

Definitely, it is a significant blow as Grealish has become a crucial player for Guardiola’s squad, having started in both the Emirates FA Cup Final and UEFA Champions League Final last season.

Grealish is not the only player with injury concerns, as Josko Gvardiol is also facing time off due to ankle ligament damage.

Guardiola explained that the uncertainty about the extent of Grealish’s injury is due to a broken machine, causing delays in determining the severity of the problem.

“He did it when we arrived and the day after (Copenhagen). We could not do it because the doctor said to me that the machine was broken,” said Guardiola.

“That’s why it took one more day, it was yesterday (Thursday), but it was my day off and I was so concerned about Chelsea and I didn’t speak with the doctor, and still I didn’t see this morning. So now, when I arrive back from this lovely press conference I will ask him.

“He’s injured but I don’t know. I know he made a scan, he has a problem in a muscular issue, but I don’t know how big is the damage, the days, I don’t know.”

Despite undergoing a scan, the exact nature of the muscular issue and the extent of the damage is still unknown.

Despite the setback, City has the opportunity to move to the top of the Premier League table with upcoming matches against Chelsea and Brentford at the Etihad Stadium.

Currently on an 11-game winning streak across all competitions, the team showed resilience with Erling Haaland scoring twice in their last Premier League outing against Everton.

In conclusion, Grealish’s absence due to injury is a setback for Manchester City, but the team remains determined to maintain their winning streak and continue their strong performance in the Premier League and other competitions.
