Pep Guardiola is extremely satisfied with the current position of his team in the season and has now set a new target for his Manchester City stars. City has been having an excellent season after their historic treble last term, and they have already secured several silverware, including the UEFA Super Cup, and the Club World Cup after a victory over Sevilla and Fluminense, respectively.
However, Guardiola is not complacent and is aiming to achieve as many trophies as possible by the end of the season. Despite their elimination from the Carabao Cup by Newcastle United, City is still competing strongly in the FA Cup and Champions League, and is just two points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool.
Guardiola expressed his delight at the team being in close contention for the top position in the league and in two cup competitions, especially after a challenging start to the season. During a pre-match press conference, he mentioned that the club’s next target is to be in the same position in April.
Once again, Guardiola has timed the season out to perfection. The team usually starts the campaign slightly slower but as the business end of the season approaches, they step it up a gear and blow everyone else away. Guardiola never wants his players to exert themselves too heavily at the start of the campaign, as they could burn out when it really matters. Now, Manchester City is finding their stride at the optimum time, and the title race with Liverpool and Arsenal looks exciting but it wouldn’t be surprising if City soon overtake and leave them behind.
Overall, the team seems to be in ideal form and the future of Manchester City in various competitions looks bright. Guardiola’s expectations are clear, and the team will likely continue to chase multiple titles as the season progresses.
