One of Manchester City’s star players, Phil Foden, recently spoke about his admiration for the club’s former midfielder, David Silva. Silva, who played for Manchester City for 10 years, left the club in 2020 to join Real Sociedad before retiring due to a serious knee injury. Foden shared his thoughts on his former teammate and how much of an impact Silva had on him, speaking in an interview with Joe Cole on TNT Sports’ YouTube channel.

Foden expressed his admiration for Silva, describing him as one of his favorite players growing up. He also spoke about his experience playing with Silva at the academy and how it was a dream come true for him. Foden also mentioned that he learned from Silva’s style of play and took advice from him, particularly in receiving the ball in tight areas.

Silva was signed by Manchester City in 2010 from Valencia in a deal worth £24m. During his time at the club, he made 436 appearances, scoring 77 goals and providing 140 assists while winning multiple trophies, including four Premier League titles. In recognition of his contribution to the club, Silva was honored with a statue outside the Etihad Stadium, highlighting his impressive efforts for Manchester City.

Despite Foden only starting to be integrated into City’s first team towards the end of Silva’s time at the club, he expressed his admiration for the veteran midfielder. Notably, Foden and Silva featured in 28 games together across the 2017/18 and 2019/20 seasons, showcasing their time as teammates.
