Manchester City, the Premier League champions, are reportedly part of a larger plan by the City Football Group to acquire Las Palmas central defender Mika Mármol.

Mármol, born in 2001, is a versatile defender who can also play as a left-back. He began his career with FC Barcelona in 2006, then moved on to the academies of UFB Jàbac Terrassa and CF Damm. He returned to Barcelona in June 2018 and was eventually promoted to the B-team in 2020. His debut in La Liga came in May 2022 during a 0-0 draw with Getafe CF.

After a short stint with FC Andorra, Mármol joined Las Palmas last summer as the club was promoted to Spain’s top flight. He has quickly gained recognition for his talent, catching the eye of Manchester City.

According to journalist Jose Alvarez, speaking to El Chiringuito, the City Football Group is interested in signing Mármol. The plan is for Manchester City to acquire the 22-year-old and then loan him out to the Group’s La Liga side, Girona. This move aligns with Girona’s push for the La Liga title this season.

In the current La Liga season, Mármol has made 21 appearances and kept six clean sheets for Las Palmas, who are currently in 9th position. Meanwhile, Girona is in a fierce battle for the title with Real Madrid and is set to face off against them this weekend.

Overall, the City Football Group’s interest in Mika Mármol represents a significant opportunity for the young defender to continue his development and potentially make a breakthrough in La Liga with Girona. It also reflects the continued expansion and influence of the City Football Group in the world of football.
