Nathan Ake has brought attention to Manchester City’s struggles earlier in the season as the squad is now in the midst of a strong run of form under Pep Guardiola.
From mid-November to early December, Manchester City went on a four-match Premier League winless streak, with three draws against Chelsea, Liverpool, and Tottenham, as well as a defeat to Aston Villa.
Additionally, in late September and early October, the team only managed one win in three games, struggling in the absence of Rodri and subsequently losing to Newcastle United, Wolves, and Arsenal.
Despite these setbacks, Manchester City’s fortunes have improved following their success at the FIFA Club World Cup in Saudi Arabia.
The team has been further bolstered by the returns of Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland from respective injuries.
Nathan Ake, speaking to the official club website, acknowledged the team’s rise after the difficult period: “We wanted to start the season strong and we felt like we did that. We obviously had a few setbacks which is normal over the course of a season, but winning the Club World Cup in December gave us a big boost and since then we have been able to hit some good form.”
Ake emphasized the team’s desire to maintain their current form in all competitions, aiming for success in the coming months.
Manchester City experienced a significant moment last month as Nathan Ake scored the team’s first-ever goal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, leading to a 1-0 win in an FA Cup fourth round tie against Ange Postecoglou’s side.
As a result of their victory, Manchester City will face Luton Town in the fifth round at Kenilworth Road, in addition to upcoming Premier League clashes and a Champions League last-16 first-leg against FC Copenhagen.
