Manchester City midfielder Rodri has emphasized the need for his team to display greater strength for the remainder of the season, acknowledging that none of the top three teams – Liverpool, Arsenal, and themselves – will be able to win every game until the end of the campaign.

Despite currently lagging four points behind Liverpool, the reigning Premier League champions are no strangers to facing adversity and have a track record of coming from behind in the final stretch of the season to clinch the title, as evidenced by their five out of six recent Premier League victories. Consequently, Rodri is not overly concerned about the current point difference.

“There’s still a long way until the end of the season. We have to win against Brentford,” he told BBC Sport.

“We were on a very good run and we know none of us three [City, Liverpool and Arsenal] will win every game until the end. We have to have strong mentality and move on to the next one.”

Rodri’s comments reflect his belief that both Liverpool and Arsenal, the teams currently sitting above City, will also face challenges in the coming matches, and that it is essential for City to maintain a strong mentality and continue striving for victories in each game.

He stressed the importance of winning their upcoming match against Brentford and acknowledged that while perfection is unlikely for all three teams, City needs to improve their performance and defensive strength, particularly in the first half of games.

The midfielder’s remarks also allude to City’s disappointment in their recent 1-1 draw with 10th-placed Chelsea, expressing the team’s belief that they should have demonstrated a higher level of performance.

While City has faced difficulties against Mauricio Pochettino’s side in previous encounters, they remain confident in their ability to secure victories against teams of similar standing in the league going forward.

Overall, Rodri’s statements underscore City’s determination to make a strong finish to the season, recognizing the need to overcome challenges and continue striving for success in each game. As the competition intensifies, City remains focused on improving their performance and staying competitive in the race for the Premier League title.
