Everton’s manager, Sean Dyche, will not be on the touchline for the upcoming Premier League clash with Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
Manchester City has the opportunity to move to the top of the Premier League table with a win over Everton this weekend, as they have had a strong record against the Toffees, winning 12 of their last 13 meetings and not losing to them since January 2017.
The recent 3-1 comeback win at Goodison Park in December saw Phil Foden, Julian Alvarez, and Bernardo Silva on the scoresheet, contributing to Manchester City’s current 12-match unbeaten streak. With City also beating Brentford 3-1 on Monday, they are within two points of league leaders Liverpool.
On the other hand, Everton has had a six-match winless run in the Premier League, dropping into the relegation zone and facing the possibility of a points deduction for Financial Fair Play breaches.
While they did earn a vital point last weekend with a 2-2 draw against Tottenham Hotspur, their manager, Sean Dyche, will be absent from the dugout for the match at the Etihad Stadium due to a one-match touchline ban for accumulating three yellow cards.
Interestingly, Manchester City’s manager, Pep Guardiola, has also served a touchline ban this season, missing the 2-1 loss to Wolves in September.
City has three successive Premier League home fixtures coming up, starting with the clash against Everton. The absence of Dyche from the touchline, due to his touchline ban, adds an interesting dynamic to the match.
Overall, with Manchester City vying for the top spot in the league and Everton facing challenges both on and off the field, Saturday’s match at the Etihad Stadium promises to be an intriguing encounter for both teams.
