According to a report by Turkiye Gazetesi, Liverpool is set to compete with Manchester City for the 24-year-old Dutch-born Fenerbahce left-back Ferdi Kadioglu. Liverpool, who are in search of a left-back in the upcoming summer transfer window, have shown interest in Kadioglu. The reigning Premier League champions, Manchester City, are also eyeing the young talent.
Ferdi Kadioglu was born in Arnhem, Netherlands, and began his youth career at AZ 2000, before moving to NEC Nijmegen where he rose through the ranks of the club’s youth division. He has also represented the Netherlands in age-group international football, but has opted to play for the Turkish national team at the senior level. Since making the move to Fenerbahce in 2018, Kadioglu has been a regular fixture in the team, making 34 appearances and contributing two goals and three assists.
The young left-back’s impressive performances at Fenerbahce have caught the attention of several top clubs, particularly in the Premier League. Initially, there were reports of interest from Arsenal, but the latest update suggests that both Liverpool and Manchester City are now leading the race for his signature.
Liverpool’s pursuit of Kadioglu is interesting, as they already have quality options in Andrew Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas at left-back. However, with Robertson approaching 30 years old, the club is exploring potential replacements. Manchester City, on the other hand, have primarily used Nathan Ake and Josko Gvardiol in the left-back position, making Kadioglu an appealing target for them as well.
Both clubs are in need of a left-back, but Kadioglu’s decision could hinge on the guarantee of regular playing time. Manchester City may be able to offer more opportunities than Liverpool. It remains to be seen where the Dutch-born left-back will ultimately end up if he leaves Fenerbahce this summer.
