Manchester City have completed their preparations for the UEFA Champions League last-16 first-leg clash with FC Copenhagen. Pep Guardiola and his team are set to arrive in Copenhagen on Monday evening for media duties and a first look at the Parken Stadium before the match on Tuesday.
The last time City met FC Copenhagen was during the group stage of the UEFA Champions League last season. They won 5-0 at the Etihad Stadium but were held to a 0-0 draw in Copenhagen.
In the away match, a ten-man Manchester City side missed a penalty and had a goal ruled out in a VAR-dominated goalless draw. Despite the challenges, they reached the last-16 of the Champions League.
Manchester City heads into Tuesday’s match following a 2-0 Premier League win over Everton. They have had 10 consecutive wins across all competitions, including the FA Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.
Pep Guardiola has been boosted by a largely fully-fit and available squad in recent days, and a fresh update has emerged from the camp following Monday morning’s open training session.
The 22-man Manchester City training squad ahead of FC Copenhagen includes players from all positions. Notably absent from the squad are Mateo Kovacic and Josko Gvardiol, who also did not participate in the open section of training ground duties on Monday morning.
Pep Guardiola could provide an update on both players when he addresses the media from Copenhagen on Monday evening. Overall, the team seems to be in good shape and ready for the upcoming match.
