According to a recent report, Manchester City has not yet scheduled any discussions with Erling Haaland or his representatives. The 23-year-old recently made his first start for the club after recovering from a foot injury that kept him out of action for two months, including the FIFA Club World Cup campaign.
Despite only joining Manchester City in the summer of 2022, Haaland has been consistently linked with a move to Real Madrid. City is focused on retaining Haaland’s value and preventing potential suitors from making serious offers by extending his contract beyond 2027.
However, Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke reveals that talks regarding Haaland’s contract renewal are not currently scheduled and are “not imminent.” Sources noted that City is not worried about Haaland leaving at this time and believe that discussions about his future could take place in the off-season.
During Haaland’s absence, Julian Alvarez has stepped up as the lone striker for Manchester City and has been contributing significantly in terms of goals. The Argentina international is just one goal contribution short of Haaland, who recently assisted Phil Foden in a recent win over Brentford.
Manchester City is set to play Everton at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Despite the ongoing speculation surrounding Haaland’s future, the team is focused on their upcoming matches and continues to perform well in his absence.
