Divock Origi, the Nottingham Forest striker with almost 350 senior appearances, recently made a bold statement suggesting that Manchester City midfielder Rodri is better than Joshua Kimmich and Casemiro. Origi, who has played for big clubs across Europe, shared his insights in a video on Forest’s official TikTok channel.
In the video, Origi was tasked with selecting players for a starting XI based on their EA FC 24 cards. When faced with the choice between Rodri, Kimmich, and Casemiro for the defensive-midfield position, Origi chose the City star without hesitation.
Rodri, signed by City from Atletico Madrid in 2019 for a hefty fee, has since made 239 appearances for the club across all competitions. This season, the 27-year-old midfielder has showcased his skills on the pitch, leading in recoveries, progressive passes, and tackles and interceptions within the squad.
Ranked fifth in the latest Ballon d’Or standings and hailed by Pep Guardiola as the best midfielder in the world, Rodri’s performance speaks for itself. Origi’s selection of Rodri over Kimmich and Casemiro reflects the Spanish international’s growing reputation as one of the top midfielders in the game.
As Rodri continues to excel and contribute to City’s success, his status as a key player in the team will only strengthen. With Guardiola’s guidance and Rodri’s exceptional talents on display, there is no doubt that he is on track to solidify his position among the elite midfielders in the world of football.
