Arsenal star Leandro Trossard has openly admitted that Manchester City full-back Kyle Walker is the best player he has ever played against.
Walker’s 2023/24 season has been a mixed bag thus far, particularly after assuming the captaincy from Ilkay Gundogan. His form dipped before the Club World Cup when City experienced a four-game winless run in the Premier League.
However, Walker has recently been displaying signs of returning to his usual self in his right-back position. Despite his struggles this season, Walker continues to be highly regarded by fans, pundits, and his peers.
Trossard spoke highly of Walker, referring to him as the best player he has faced. Trossard revealed this during an interview with Fubo.
Trossard said: “I think probably Kyle Walker is up there. He’s always really hard to play against.”
In fact, during the course of his career, the Belgium international has faced Walker eight times. While he has had a challenging time playing against Walker, Trossard has managed to win twice against him, once during the 2023 Community Shield and another in a Premier League match earlier this season at the Emirates.
Trossard’s acknowledgment of Walker’s abilities adds to a growing list of players who have spoken about the challenges of playing against him.
The likes of Gabriel Martinelli, Nathan Redmond, and Willian have all attested to the difficulty of facing Walker on the field. His incredible pace and power coupled with tactical intelligence have made him a formidable opponent.
Walker’s £50 million move to City has seen him become a significant player for the team, impressing under the guidance of manager Pep Guardiola.
His remarkable combination of pace, strength, and intelligence has made him a difficult player to contend with on the field.
Walker’s resurgence as one of the best full-backs in the game has been remarkable and continues to impress players and fans alike.
