Erling Haaland has shared his thoughts on what it was like to win the Treble at the end of his first season at Manchester City. After arriving at the Manchester club from Borussia Dortmund in the 2022 summer transfer window, the striker went on to score 52 goals in 53 games across all competitions.

Having helped fire his team to the Premier League title as well as the FA Cup and Champions League, the 23-year-old has now shared his thoughts on what it was like to have such a glitteringly successful debut season at City.

Speaking in a recent edition of the official Man City Podcast, Haaland had this to say about his debut season with the Blues and the trophies they lifted at the end of it.

“The club won the Premier League two years in a row before so there was a lot of pressure there. We were behind for 248 days or something, so there was pressure there.

“If I came in and we didn’t win the Premier League it would have been like: ‘You came in and destroyed everything!’ But to win that, we did good in the Champions League and of course the FA Cup, to get the full Treble was unreal and an amazing first season.”

Taking into account the significant number of goals he scored for Pep Guardiola’s side last season, it’s clear that Haaland was a big reason why City was so successful last season.

Looking back over the previous Premier League campaign, Haaland’s overall performances earned him an impressive season rating of 7.54/10 from WhoScored, making him the second-highest-rated player in the division behind Kevin De Bruyne (7.58/10).

This season has seen the Norwegian find the back of the net 19 times in 21 appearances across the Premier League and the Champions League, which shows that he has not lost any of the goalscoring prowess he showed in spades last season.

Looking ahead to the remainder of the campaign, it’d be safe to assume that the center-forward and the rest of his City teammates will be desperate to regain the titles they lifted last term, but will need to make sure they keep scoring goals to do so.
