According to a report by Sport Bild, Florian Wirtz’s future at Bayer Leverkusen might involve signing a new deal. The suggested new contract could include a release clause, forcing interested clubs like Real Madrid and Manchester City to pay more than €130 million for the 18-year-old playmaker, who has contributed to 20 goals in the Bundesliga.
Bayer Leverkusen has reportedly decided to extend Wirtz’s contract, indicating their intention to keep him at the club rather than selling him in the summer. They are pleased with his performances and are considering offering a new deal that would make him one of the highest earners in the club’s history.
Florian Wirtz’s father and advisor, Hans-Joachim Wirtz, appears to be leaning towards agreeing to a new deal, stating that Leverkusen is currently building something very good and it makes sense for his son to remain a part of it. However, there is still a possibility of a release clause being included in the new contract, which could see Wirtz leave the club as early as next summer if triggered.
The release clause is rumored to be over €130 million, meaning that top clubs like Real Madrid, Manchester City, Barcelona, Liverpool, and Bayern Munich will have to pay a substantial sum if they want to sign Wirtz. Real Madrid is reportedly ready to pay over €100 million, while Liverpool is also considering him as a significant potential signing.
Despite interest from various top clubs, Bayer Leverkusen would hope to keep their star player until at least 2025, as they continue to push for the Bundesliga title. However, the club knows that they might face the inevitable loss of their best talents in the future, and the upcoming summer transfer window could bring change depending on the offers they receive.
